While their menu encompasses flavors from around the Mediterranean, the question of “Where’s the best Italian food?” is mostly frequently answered with the enigmatic smile of Mona Lisa’s (428 Water St., Eau Claire), which also took the prize as the Best Restaurant in Eau Claire. Coming in a close second for what (sadly) will likely be the last time is Draganetti’s Ristorante (3120 E. Clairemont Ave., Altoona). The owners have the building for sale, so grab a plate of eggplant parmesan while you still can. Rounding out the list is Olive Garden (4920 Golf Road, Eau Claire), where a Tour of Italy is just a short drive away. –Tom Giffey
