For more than 35 years, the Irvine Park Christmas Lights in Chippewa Falls have lit up area residents’ lives every holiday season. The bountiful colors present at Irvine Park are echoed at Chalkfest as local artists showcase their talents in the community (typically on the UW-Eau Claire campus, but this year virtually). And while entertainment is valued in the scene, the numerous Black Lives Matter protests also showed the socially conscious side of the Chippewa Valley, demonstrating just how rounded the community’s focus is. –Parker Reed
