Good Beer, good people, good news: all the sweet stuff found in bars and pubs. But how about quenching spiritual thirst, too?

Once a month, you can find a low-key gathering at The Brewing Projekt in Eau Claire called “Beer Church.” Held one Thursday monthly, Beer Church is meant to be a more approachable space to talk about faith. There are interesting community speakers to discuss faith-life topics while enjoying one of the craft brewery’s beers – and having some fun and playing games as well.

Beer Church was started one year ago by a local nonprofit ministry, JesusFit. JesusFit operates alongside churches – although it is purposefully unaffiliated – with its mission is the same: practicing Jesus’ teachings and loving one another.

JesusFit was started in 2021 by Bryan Willkom and his wife, Anna. Bryan is a ministry leader and trained Christian coach, having gained his bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Organizational Communication from UW-Eau Claire. He also completed masters-level course work at St. Mary’s College of Minnesota.

JesusFit aims to serve the Chippewa Valley as a whole, and relies 100% on charitable giving to continue its efforts.

The next Beer Church will be Thursday, May 18, from 6:45-8:30pm at The Brewing Projekt, 1807 N. Oxford Ave. It will be an extra special night, serving as both the first anniversary of Beer Church, and the second anniversary for JesusFit.
