Lifelong library volunteer Brenda Brant recently received the 2019 Distinguished Service Award for her invaluable service to the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire. The 13th recipient of the award, Brant began her work as a page at the public library when she was a teenager. In college, she repaired books for L.E. Phillips and McIntyre libraries. Since then, Brant has served as president, vice president, and secretary of the Friends of the Library and has served on the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library Board of Directors. “The library is so much more than a building,” Brant said. “It’s a vibrant, ever-changing and evolving space. I’m so lucky to have this library in my life, and I hope to continue to work with others to make it even better.”
